Sigma releases professional-grade water repellant filters to compliment new lens lineup
Gentec International, the exclusive Canadian distributor of Sigma lenses, announces a new series of water repellent (WR) filters to compliment the latest Art, Contemporary and Sport lenses.
These new Sigma WR filters enable easier handling while shooting and feature excellent water and oil repellent properties, also found in the new Sigma 150-600mm F55-6.3 DG HSM OS Sport and Contemporary lenses. The filters will be available in multiple standard thread-sizes and in ‘WR Protector’ or ‘WR Circular Polarizer’ versions.
Pricing and availability for the new Sigma WR Protector and WR Circular Polarizer have not yet been announced.
FILTER STYLES
SIGMA WR Protector
The Protector filters is developed to protect the lens surface from dirt and dust as well as scratches. It is an ideal filter for regular use as it is completely colorless, leaving no affect in color reproduction of images.
SIGMA WR Circular Polarizer
The Circular PL filter removes reflection from water surfaces and glass windows, while increasing contrast in landscape photography and darkening blue skies.
SPECIAL FEATURES
Water and Oil-repellent function (WR)
With exceptional Water and Oil repellent functions, the filter surface repels water drops and provides resistance to fingerprints. Even smudges on the surface of the filter can be easily removed with limited wiping compared to traditional filters.
Antistatic Function
With excellent antistatic performance, the filters are capable of preventing microscopic dust from clinging to the surface. Even if the lens is soiled, dust can easily be removed with the use of an air-blower.
Designed to the highest optical quality with ultra-low reflection
The new Sigma WR filters are designed to avoid vignetting when used with super wide-angle and wide-angle lenses. By incorporating Sigma’s Super Multi-Layer Coating, the filter reduces flare and ghosting. In addition, black rimmed glass eliminates internal reflections and provides high performance image quality in both digital and film cameras.
Thin-Frame Filters
By incorporating a thinner frame (except with 86mm, 95mm and 105mm filters), Sigma filters are able to avoid vignetting with super wide-angle lenses. A lens cap can still be attached to the front of the lens as the edge of the frame is threaded.
Common sizes to fit on any lens
Sigma has developed the new WR filters to fit on all common lens thread sizes, including 46mm, 49mm, 52mm, 55mm, 58mm, 62mm, 67mm, 72mm, 77mm, 82mm, 86mm, 95mm and 105mm. All filters use a thin frame, except for the three largest filters, which use a normal width filter frame.
Canadian Warranty
Like all Sigma filters, these filters are backed by a comprehensive one-year Canadian warranty.
