Gentec introduces the Sigma 18-50mm F2.8-4.5 DC OS HSM standard zoom lens with optical stabilizer
Gentec International is pleased to announce the new Sigma 18-50mm F2.8-4.5 DC OS HSM lens. This large aperture standard zoom lens incorporates Sigma’s optical stabilization (OS) function. The large F2.8 aperture at 18mm, plus optical stabilization, makes this lens ideal for indoor photography and low-light conditions. Sigma’s innovative OS system provides effective compensation for camera shake, allowing the use of shutter speeds up to four stops slower than normal. And as the only manufacturer of stabilized lenses for Pentax and Sony, Sigma offers an effective alternative for those camera bodies equipped with their own built-in stabilization function. Because compensation for camera shake is visible in the viewfinder, Sigma’s OS system lets the photographer easily check for accurate focus and ensure there is no subject movement. Two Special Low Dispersion (SLD) glass elements and three aspherical lenses provide excellent correction for all types of aberrations to ensure high image quality throughout the entire zoom range. Sigma’s Super Multi-Layer Coating reduces flare and ghosting for high contrast images. The lens also incorporates inner focusing and inner zooming systems. The overall length of the lens does not change during either focusing or zooming ensuring optimal handling. The incorporation of a Hyper Sonic Motor (HSM) ensures quiet, high speed auto focusing. The suggested retail price of the Sigma 18-50mm F2.8-4.5 DC OS HSM lens is $499.95.
